Summer saludos 1
¡Hola aventureros! Hi adventurers!
Welcome to the first issue of my Spanish aventuras blog, my effort to stay connected with you all and encourage you on your language learning journey over the summer months.
Periodically during the summer, I will send an update to those of you subscribed to my classes. These ‘Summer saludos’ will include learning activities and resources for you and/or your child(ren) to dip into should you wish, until we meet again.
Canciones - songs
Here is a playlist , including both our favourite children’s songs and also some traditional sounds from around the Spanish speaking world! Listen often and enjoy! Have questions about lyrics? Let me know and I can send the lyrics or a translation for you.
One detail: not included in the playlist are several songs from the album, Excelente Fabuloso, that I used in our classes. It is not available on itunes or spotify…(¡Ay caray!)…so I recommend that you add it to your collection for the car. The pronunciation isn’t perfect, but the songs and dialogues features lots of high frequency language and are spot on for young learners. Your kids will love singing along!
Summer Spanish checklist
Here is a wonderful checklist for different apps, websites, TV shows, books and songs for preschool and elementary Spanish learners - selected and collated by Elisabeth Alvarado, of spanishmama.com.
You can scroll through her suggested resources or - even better - insert your email address on that page and she will send you a ready made checklist to post on your fridge!
¡Próximamente….camisetas! Coming soon….t-shirts!
Did you notice my Spanish language themed t-shirts that I wore to class this Spring? They were courtesy of my very talented amiga, Sarah McCoy of the Permanent Collection Letterpress + Design Studio in the East Village. Want one for you or your little Spanish aventurero or aventurera? Watch this space! She is creating some fun t-shirts just for us! More info to follow in my next blog!
Later this summer i’ll post information about my fall classes…so stay in touch! I love to hear from you.
Saludos,
Sarah
