la vuelta al cole (el colegio) or la vuelta a clases = back to school

¡Hola a todos!

I hope this finds you all refreshed and sanos y seguros (safe and well) as we look ahead to an, albeit very different, return to the school year. What an uncertain time this is for families and educators everywhere!

I had hoped to send information about my fall class offerings sooner, but alas I have been in something of a holding pattern as I establish the finer details of my kids’ ‘return to learn’ destiny. This has affected my ability to establish my teaching schedule and I sincerely apologize for this delay. Lo siento mucho.

It is possible that you are also experiencing frustration and uncertainty in your own homes and facing some challenging circumstances as you navigate this season. To all of you, I send socially-distanced hugs and say…hang in there!

This brings to mind the uplifting Spanish expression…¡sí se puede! Yes, we can! We can ride this out together. And we’ll all hopefully be stronger for it.

Virtual classes will continue, for now

What I need to tell you is that, to ensure the health and safety of all of our families and to play our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we will continue with virtual aventuras via Zoom until further notice. I know that this is not the same as meeting together, sharing smiles and hugs, songs, stories and skits. It makes me sad and it makes it more challenging for everyone.

I do have hope that we could perhaps meet from time to time, outside…while we can!…watch this space…we’ll see how things go and what public spaces and places are open to us.

I want to reassure you that I am committed to providing both high quality, engaging virtual instruction and also sharing meaningful follow-up, at-home materials with you.

Classes starting soon!

What I can tell you is that I anticipate our aventuras to commence the week of September 14th. In the next week or two I will have more clarity and therefore more information for you.

5 quick questions

What I would ask you is that you would take a minute to complete a brief survey to help inform my planning. This will let me know who would like to come on aventuras with me this fall and what class times suit the majority. Thank you so much! ¡Mil gracias!

One thing I know for sure…we WILL have fun and engaging Spanish aventuras together this fall!

I can’t wait to get back and see old faces, meet new ones…and get stuck into exploring the Spanish language and its colorful cultures, together.

Salten con Andrés…jump with Andrés

Until we gather again, why not get some wiggles out and enjoy this video of a song called ¡salta, salta! (jump! jump!) by the captivating singer/songwriter, Andrés. His award-winning albums and videos are very catchy, involve a lot of movement and are a lot of fun for all the family! You’ll be singing along before you know it! I guarantee that your child will understand the meaning of ¡salta, salta! after watching, listening, jumping and singing along with these words! (Note: I recommend that you click on CC/settings for subtitles in English or Spanish, depending on your comfort zone)

Have fun!

Hasta pronto,

Sarah
